The Thing About Affirmations

By

The Truth is, Self-Care isn’t this cookie-cutter perfect routine where you engage in a set of behaviors every day for the rest of your life, with a guarantee of ease.

Self care can look like so many things, but using morning affirmations to speak life into myself at the beginning of the day really does go a long way. When I began incorporating affirmations into my morning routine, to say it became a game-changer mentally, is a complete understatement. Practicing affirmations has helped improve my mindset immensely. It’s been shown that more than the physical, your mental has a direct impact on your actions – what you do (or don’t do). As someone who’s struggled with anxiety, I know this all too well. We all get to a point in our life where we don’t want to be dominated by negativity, internally or externally, and using morning affirmations are a great way to do that.

Life happens and there are many stressors that are unplanned we do our best to remain cool but sometimes we need more than just inhaling and exhaling exercises.

If you personally struggle with feelings of self-worth and self-love, give affirmations a try. Even if you just commit to writing down one to three affirmations each day for a month, chances are you’ll see a major improvement in your overall mindset and how you feel about yourself. Because let’s be honest – the real glow-up isn’t external. The real glow-up happens when we learn to love and accept ourselves just as we are.

Affirmations are positive statements that can help you to challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts.

According to Walter E. Jacobson, M.D., there is value in affirmations, because our subconscious mind plays a major role in the actualization of our lives and the manifestation of our desires. What we believe about ourselves at a subconscious level, he says, can definitely have a significant impact on the outcome of events.

Affirmations are just simple statements that are designed to create self-change in the individual using them. They can serve as inspiration, as well as simple reminders. They also can serve to focus attention on goals throughout the day, which, in and of itself, has the potential to promote positive and sustained self-change.

So next time you’re not feeling your best or want to remind yourself that abundance is your Birthright just remember that effective affirmations are written in first person. Begin your affirmations with the “I” or “I am….” These types of statements turn affirmations into statements of identity. Identity statements are powerful motivators for self-change.

I personally love affirmations pieces wether the positive message is on my clothes, cups, socks, bags etc… Anytime you find an opportunity to speak life & love into yourself DO IT! Life will not always be perfect but we can encourage ourselves through it to create moments of ease within.
